Jill Wiechert began singing with Chinook Winds Show Chorus in September 2022. Jill had piano lessons as a child and learned flute in high school. Her husband encouraged her to join a choir because he noticed her picking up bass lines and harmonies in the songs on the radio.
Jill was completely unprepared for the world of barbershop but has jumped in with both feet. She started singing lead with Chinook Winds, and in her second year she moved to the tenor part, being the only tenor in 2024-2025. Jill pitches in with setting up riser chairs, audit committees, party planning committees, pitch pipe playing and attends almost all rehearsals (and performances). She has been the financial coordinator for Chinook Winds Chorus since 2024. She has a cat, Caity, who also attends the management team Zoom meetings (though does not help with the finances).
Jill joined Stampede City Mixed Chorus and began singing tenor with them in 2023. Jill began singing with the Hybrid Harmony quartet in fall of 2024. She was very busy in the fall of 2025, as Hybrid Harmony competed in Barbershop Harmony Society District 3 quartet contest. Jill also competed with Stampede City Mixed Chorus and One Night Only Chorus at the District 3 convention. Jill participated in the Harmony Platoon and was part of the winning “Alvin’s Quartet” who acted as mic testers for the quartet competition.
Jill loves learning and has attended coaching sessions with A Cappella Road and Rhythm of the Rockies as well as Chinook Winds and Stampede City.
She works as an Assistant Controller for Green Drop Ltd (since 2004).
Jill also volunteers at her church, Bonavista Church, by singing on stage and operating the sound board. She has co-chaired the GriefShare program several times.
Jill has already been asking about the Certified Director program with Sweet Adelines and will likely end up volunteering with Region 26 in the future.
Chinook Winds is very proud to present Jill Wiechert as our nomination to the Carol Poole Spirit of 26 Award
